Lyft Driver Says She Fought Off Two Attackers Only to Be Fired from Her Job
In search of an expert legal opinion regarding a carjacking incident that occurred while a Lyft driver was on duty, Cleveland 5 News interviews criminal defense attorney and owner of Fortress Law Group, Matthew C. Bangerter. Protected under Ohio’s Castle Doctrine, the driver would not face criminal prosecution for using a firearm in self-defense, Bangerter states. However, since Lyft is a private company and, in this case, their weapon policy was violated, termination of employment is not unlawful.
